Bates Cemetery

Cullman, AL
History of Bates Cemetery

Bates cemetery located near Cullman, Al. Holds a very dark and sinister entity. This quite hillside cemetery
is odd in that it sits on a hillside and graves here are frequently washed out by storms. Many of the graves
here are in need of constant attention due to this. This place also holds some secrets that we don't have a
real explanation for. Upon visiting this location as a child Investigator Bert Overton who's home is Cullman
came here with his grandparents. He saw the apparition of a small female child. As well as had a very dark
and awful experience here.

Bert Overton has been with the Alabama Paranormal Research Team since it's beginning stages. He is truly
a favorite among the team members and his heart is always in his work. However Bert had an experience in
this graveyard that would make even the most seasoned investigator second guess paranormal
investigations. We have physical evidence that a nasty force can and will make itself present at this location.
What it is contributed to, we have no idea. Upon a night of investigating this cemetery with former
investigator Brent McDonald (Also of North Al) He was struck with a dreadful feeling of some unseen energy
that seemed to have passed right threw him almost knocking him down. They had only been in the cemetery
a short while when he was struck. Bert headed home after he became violently ill with stomach pains, and
severe vomiting. He stayed in bed most of the next day until he felt a little better. When he approached his
mother the next day with what had happen she was shocked and had noticed his face was bruised and
swollen. Bert still in shock, looked in the mirror only to discover that he had two bruised and swollen eyes.
We have him officially documented him as a victim of stigmata. Since Brent McDonald was present and can
verify the attack as well as Bert's bruises documented with photographs. You can see more on the page he
has a written up of his experience with his experience here:
STIGMATA

Even though we knew we'd be taking a chance at Bates cemetery we headed there as a team to investigate
it for ourselves. We arrived at the location extremely late or early however you may want to view 5 AM. We
ran EMF along with our the rest of our equipment and came up with a few EMF spikes in the cemetery that
had no source. No over head power lines or anything close by that would give off any type of electric
frequencies. There where no homes near by as this cemetery is in a very odd location. To date all the
evidence we have gathered for  Bates cemetery, stands as inconclusive but just like with most locations
where we pick up on some type of activity. We'll be back!
